Sophia is based on several old wool fragments in Susan Deliss's private collection originating from Anatolia and Persia that had been hand woven on narrow, easily portable strip looms and then stitched together by hand.  Susan Deliss was fascinated by the intricacy of the work involved in 
producing these textiles. 
 
Most of these original textiles were in reds and blues and dark creams but Susan wanted to create her own palette of very warm burnt oranges and soft indigo blues and deep antique linen colours that were consistent with the spirit of the originals. For the same reason, Susan and her weaver included some wool in this elegant weave so that it keeps some of the spirit that inspired it.
 
Sophia works beautifully for curtains and blinds and can be used, if backed, for upholstery and cushions.
