If you have ever been to Istanbul you will probably have eaten a simit.  A sesame sprinkled Turkish bagel, sold freshly every day by men wheeling simit carts, is as evocative of Istanbul as the Bosphorus. On many walks from one wholesale carpet or textiles dealer to another, Susan Deliss has picked up a simit along the way to nibble as she rummages through piles of textiles and kilims.
 
For Susan, the deep red, indigo and natural linen colours of this weave are as reminiscent of antique Anatolian textiles as simits are reminiscent of her textile travels in Turkey. So, the happy mix of visual and culinary heritages that have so inspired Susan have also inspired the name of this weave.
