So often when Susan Deliss creates a textile, the process starts with a hand woven fragment found on her travels. Constanza is different, as it originated in Susan's curiosity about how a block printed pattern could be transposed into a weave. Creating colour in a weave is a very different process from block printing with dyes and Susan Deliss worked with individual yarns to create each colour way of this elegant and versatile design.
 
When working on this colour way, Susan was drawn to historical Byzantine and African palettes , combining a more masculine feel with a rich textural quality.  These darker tones stand perfectly on their own in more restrained interiors where subtle plays of colour and texture - wood, stone, plaster - are layered with other elements.
