This elegant and versatile braid has been designed and woven in England.
Kaftan braid was inspired by antique hand woven silk and cotton braids that Susan found on 19th century ikat coats in her private collection.
This elegant braid will work if stitched onto curtains, upholstery, blinds, ottomans/footstools and cushions. Susan would also use it as an amazing trim for painted, wallpapered or fabric covered walls around the edges next to coloured woodwork and/or cornicing, to give a room colourful and textural definition.
Working closely with a wonderful English braid weaver, Susan created this braid using a loom that is antique and made partly of wood. Visual and manual skills are integral to each stage of the production process. When creating this braid, Susan found it thrilling to learn some of the intricacies of braid construction and weaving and to see first hand the skill and complexity of this high form of craft that Susan Deliss is totally committed to nurturing and supporting.
