Elegant and charming antique porcelain coffee pot made by the Russian Kusnetsov factory.
 
This pot came via Uzbekistan and Istanbul.  
 
The Kuznetsov factory was established by a merchant called Terenty Kuznetsov in 1832 and it's first six kilns were built near Moscow in Dulevo. Kuznetsov porcelain was known for the distinctive whiteness of it's porcelain. Female workers painting porcelain were called Agafya and their products agashkas.
 
The Russian porcelain industry developed especially fast in the second half of 19th century after serfdom was abolished. Kuznetsov porcelain was very popular with a new, fast growing "capitalist" elite.
 
The Kuznetsov company acquired the Gardner Verbilki factory in 1891 and from 1889 the new name of the company was M.S. Kuznetsov Company for the Manufacture of Porcelain and Pottery Goods. The Kuznetsov porcelain empire swiftly mechanized production when cheap foreign competition entered Russian market.
 
In 1918 the Kuznetsov factories were nationalized.  Kuznetsov traditions are now still upheld by the Dulevo factory.
